Background

Before the Fall

Both Samael and Beelzebub were powerful angels within Heaven's hierarchy; the Angels of Death and Plagues respectively. While Samael was highest and closest to God among his brothers, Beelzebub followed him and adored him ardently; a brotherhood and trust that Samael also shared.

When Samael declared his coup against the Almighty, it was Beelzebub, among others, who swore their allegiances to the Devil as lieutenants; convincing a legion of other angels to follow the Angel of Death and his circle, Beelzebub became the guardian of the Devil – the Sentinel.
